Interact

The challenge set for each district in RIBI is to charter 7 new interact clubs in the district. We have a small number of club in our district and would like to create a network of one interact club per Rotary club over time. With the Rotary theme of ‘The future of Rotary is in your hands’ the focus in youth opportunities is clearly also on expanding our reach to Interact clubs.

One interact club per Rotary club to guarantee long term survival of rotary and Rotaract. Year 4 or Transition year students could easily benefit from this programme as part of their social and community type subjects, with their involvement in an interact club they effectively do what needs to be done for their curriculum completion.

Who can help: Youth competition & exchange participants and principals, teachers and youth leaders.

What do you need to start a club: a leadership team (chairperson, treasurer, secretary) and 15 interested young people

What does an Interact club do: minimum requirement is one community based project and one international project (international service and foundation have some great projects to suggest to students), most clubs do more and are project driven, students decide on the projects

Rotary club support: two Rotarians attend Interact meetings, and the club can invite Interactors to their events as well as support Interact events

Chartering a club: is an important event and announces the official being part of the larger Interact & Rotary family. I will do my best to attend as many chartering events as possible once given enough notice to suit it around work.

Further details: in the membership area of www.ribi.org under committees and then youth, you will find all you need to know about Interact. Alternatively contact me and I will answer as many of your questions as possible.

If there are a few Interact clubs in the district we can then bring them together for their own interactive and fun conference or activity weekend.
